Galaxy Z Flip's Lack Of 5G Means It Might Be Cheap Enough To Buy
Today a bit more information on the second Samsung foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Flip leaked, and it's getting a bit strange. Where the first Samsung Galaxy Fold device was $20 short of a full two thousand dollars, the first Galaxy Z Flip could be significantly more... affordable. That's the claim if you're the sort of person that regularly purchases new phones for over $1399 USD.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will fold portrait style, rather than landscape style. They're folding like a traditional flip-phone, rather than a checkbook. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip was leaked several times over the past couple of weeks, ramping up to this week's explosion of detail that we've been processing over the last several days.
If you take a peek at any one of these several image leaks or the Valentine's Day target post from earlier this week, you'll get the majority of the leaked info with which we're creating the list of specifications you see next.

This is all based on rumors, save the bit we learned this past October – as shown in the video below. This video was shown by Samsung in 2019 to get developers onboard with their future foldable smartphones. It was all right there!
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip was tipped and leaked – several times – to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. This would indicate that the phone does not necessarily have 5G connectivity, as there is no inbuilt 5G compatibility in said SoC. While it might've been possible to include a separate 5G modem, insider tips this week suggest that the lack of 5G here will allow the device to be ever-so-slightly cheaper than its predecessor (the Galaxy Fold).
We'll know more when we hear from Samsung at the February 11th, 2020 event. Stick around as we get release date details, final pricing, and hands-on photos and video that day! Or you could just go ahead and check Motorola's latest RAZR instead – that folds just like this!
