Galaxy S8+ Rose Gold variant appears in leaked photo [update]

The larger of the two Samsung Galaxy S8 handsets, the Galaxy S8+, has appeared online with a new look: a Rose Gold look, to be exact. The pink-colored variant recently surfaced on Chinese website Weibo, the same place we previously saw a gold variation appear. The shade appears very similar to the iPhone's Rose Gold option, though perhaps just a tad darker. The smaller of the two handsets is nowhere to be seen (in this color).

Samsung already offers the Galaxy S8 in various colors, including Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, Midnight Black, Coral Blue, and Maple Gold. It wouldn't be surprising if the company decided to release a Rose Gold color, though whether it'll bear that name is yet to be seen. The other big question is where? While it's not unusual for companies to release new variants of popular products, it's also not unusual for the variants to launch in limited regions.

The other big question is whether the new color option will be available on the smaller Galaxy S8 or if it will be a special option for just the larger of the two, the 6.2-inch Galaxy S8 Plus. Few details were provided alongside the leaked photo and Samsung hasn't commented on the leak, so we'll have to wait for something official to show up before we know for sure. As with any leak, though, take it all with a grain of salt.

Of course, the phone would be the same despite the color change. Users get a 6.2-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 2960 x 1440 (529pp) resolution, the best part being the Infinity Display design that ditches the bezels in favor of an edge-to-edge screen. Not familiar with the phone? We've got all the details, as well as a bunch of pictures, in our Galaxy S8 Review! Check out the timeline below for more news.

UPDATE: Sorry folks, it looks like that photo is a fan render from here.
