Destiny Xbox One Beta date set with new details

The Beta for the otherworldly game Destiny has been confirmed for July 17th, 2014, and will indeed be launching as planned. When the Destiny Alpha was extended, word traveled fast that the Beta might be changed – as it turns out, only the details within the launch are different, not the date.

Destiny is being set to roll with its Beta to any user who pre-ordered the game through retailers that suggested as much earlier this year. This included (and includes) Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, PlayStation Store, and Walmart. If you were in on the Alpha, chances are you're in on the Beta – but there's no hard and fast guarantee.

This next release will have a number of updated elements – surprise, it was Alpha, now we're in Beta!

• Ghost Dialog – that lovely chatter from Peter Dinklage may be slightly modified

• PlayStation Network Trophies and Xbox Achievements – revealed here, but not necessarily active in the Beta.

• July 17th is the launch of the PlayStation 4 Beta, while the Xbox One Beta will start "shortly thereafter."

Below you'll find a small gallery of images of the Beta released by Bungie this week. These images are not guaranteed to have been captured in-game, but based on what we've seen in the Alpha, we wouldn't be surprised if they were.

You can see our Alpha experience with Destiny now, and stick around to see our Beta experience sooner than later!
