Destiny 2 PC beta download available for pre-orders
The console version of Destiny 2 is only a week and a half away from release, but those interested in the PC version will be able to check out their own beta even before then. The open beta will be available for everyone from Tuesday, August 29th through Thursday, August 31st, however those who have pre-ordered the game get it a day early, on August 28th. If you're in the latter group, and are counting down the seconds until Monday, you can actually pre-load the beta now.
As was revealed earlier this year, Destiny 2 on PC will be available through Blizzard's Battle.net platform/app, and the same goes for beta as well. Players who have digitally pre-ordered should already see the option to download the beta in their list of games on the Battle.net app. Those who have pre-ordered from a retailer will get a code that needs to be entered on Bungie's website at bungie.net/redeem, and then they'll connect their Blizzard account to get early access and pre-download.
Bungie has already detailed what the PC beta will include in terms of playable content, and in this week's blog post the developer revealed the final layout for the default controls on keyboard and mouse. These controls will be fully customizable, however, and Bungie add that there will multiple text chat options available, including a Fireteam setting and chats for specific people on the friends list.
There's also an updated list of confirmed issues that players may experience in the PC beta: this includes problems with out of date drivers and the recommendation that players get the latest version; issues with the beta being installed in a folder that uses non-localized characters (like Greek, Cyrillic, or Kanji), and the recommendation that the default install location be used; problems joining a Fireteam with another player on the same local area network; and the notice that support for Multi-GPU is still in development, with NVIDIA SLI users possibly encountering poor visual performance, while AMD Crossfire is not supported by the PC beta.
