Deezer Elite high-res music streaming arrives as Sonos exclusive

For the first time, users in the United States will be able to stream music from Deezer...if they have Sonos gear. The announcement was made today, with Deezer Elite being unveiled as a lossless music streaming service about to undergo a global rollout, coming to the US as a Sonos exclusive.

That the service will be coming to the US isn't surprising — we've heard rumor of such plans before. We've been hearing as far back as 2012 that the company was looking for a partner to make that happen. As it turns out, Sonos is that partner.

Called Deezer Elite, the service will stream music is FLAC format at a standard of 1411Kbps to Sonos gear, says the company. This represents a 5x jump in bitrate over competing services, and will come alongside a music catalog of 35+ million songs. The service comes with recommended playlists, music history syncing from other services, and more.

Those wanting Deezer Elite on Sonos are being offered a discounted rate of $9.99/month if they agree to a year of service, otherwise it is priced at $14.99/month. A 30-day trial for US users will kick off on September 15, with a global rollout taking place on an unspecified date some time after this.
