Canon G3 X detailed but under development

This week the folks at Canon have revealed details on the PowerShot G3 X officially. Not in full, that is to say, and not in a way that's similar to that of the announcements they've made of other cameras this week. Instead, the follow-up to the PowerShot G1 X Mark II and the compact-body PowerShot G7 X, the Canon PowerShot G3 X will work with a 1-inch sensor, a 24–600mm (35mm film equivalent) 25x optical zoom lens, and a compact overall size. Not much else is being made official by the company today.

You wont get release information this week, nor will you get pricing scales. Instead, this is an "under development" sort of situation. Canon has made clear that they're not prepared at this time to release any in-depth information on the camera at this time.

They have suggested that what we've seen earlier this year may return soon. Canon will bring a prototype of the G3 X to the CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show 2015. That event series takes place February 12th through the 15th in Yokohama Japan.

We MAY get more information about the device then – but as it'll still be a prototype, we may very well not.

For now, trust who you want, but know this: Canon's solid, final-product information has not yet been revealed officially.
