Canon EOS M3 leak points to tiltable LCD, popup flash

Last week we encountered details of Canon's upcoming high-end EOS 5DS and its low-pass filter free 5DS R variant and mentioned rumors of an upcoming M3 camera as well. This time, we're seeing for the first time some leaked photos of the digital camera, revealing a few interesting new details. Sadly, there aren't enough details yet to form a more complete picture, figuratively speaking, of the camera, though the leaked information is probably enough to get camera fans a bit excited for what yet to come.

Compared to its predecessor, the EOS M2 that was launched back in late 2013, the EOS M3 pictured here comes with a distinctly different design, one that bears closer semblance to DSLR cameras. In addition to that, Canon seems to have added a more pronounced grip on the side, which again lends a bit more "serious business" appeal to the camera compared to the M2.

Turning the camera over, the backside also hints at some interesting features. The LCD monitor, for example, seems to be a tiltable one, enabling users to catch photos at any angle, which is another way of saying "selfies". There also seems to be a popup flash on top, which addresses the EOS M2's lack of any type of flash.

A detailed not found in these leaked photos is that the EOS M3 will be compatible with the EVF-DC1, the electronic viewfinder that was originally designed for the PowerShot G1 X Mark II which launched February last year. No word yet on when the Canon EOS M3 or the EOS 5DS/5DS R will debut.
