ASUS Eee PC T101MT finally arrives in US

It’s taken them long enough, but ASUS’ Eee PC T101MT – the 10.1-inch multitouch convertible netbook – is finally on sale and shipping in the US.  Available through Amazon, the T101MT has an Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard-drive, but the most interesting aspect is the multitouch-capable 1024 x 600 resistive touchscreen.

Of course, the irony is that the version of Windows 7 ASUS preload onto this particular model of Eee PC T101MT – Windows 7 Starter Edition – doesn’t actually have multitouch support baked in; for that, you’ll have to upgrade to a higher-tier version.  That seems unduly short-sighted on their part, and we won’t even mention the recently-launched iPad lurking in the wings.  For $499, we’re not 100-percent convinced, especially with reviewers talking of sluggish performance.
