ARK: Survival Evolved goes mobile: Oh god, dinosaurs

ARK: Survival Evolved is a PC game that's usually a great reason to buy a new graphics card. Now it's coming to mobile platforms. This game is a first-person RPG, survival, and adventure game that's been rather popular since inception. This version of the game contains the full online survival experience available on both PC and gaming console – no holds barred.

It would appear that the new trend is bringing otherwise massive-requirement PC games to mobile platforms. That's what's up with ARK: Survival Evolved, a game that's so extremely detailed and involved on other platforms, that I'll be shocked if these developers successfully moved to mobile. They'll be heroes if they've done this right.

UPDATE: This mobile game is being developed for this platform by a pack of developers we very much trust. That is War Drum Studios, the same team that brought on Auralux and transferred to mobile games like Bully and the original Grand Theft Auto. They'll get the job done, of that I'm now a whole lot more confident.

This game was first launched in an early access program all the way back in June of 2015 for the PC. Since then, "over 13 million" users have played and/or are still playing online, right this minute. This game is also available on Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It's jawsome pretty much everywhere.

Users will find a limited Beta of the game live now, and both iOS and Android will be getting the full version "later this Spring." As such, as it is with any developer announcement – no matter how excellent they are – we'll expect this game to be released this summer.

Another place you can find your fair share of dinosaurs in a mobile game is in Jurassic World Alive. That game is in development and will be released very soon, too. Make use of that if you like walking – or wait for ARK if you like playing games on the bus.
