Apple Watch given Colette showcase during Paris Fashion Week

Apple's new wearable, the Apple Watch, has been given a one-day showcase at the Parisian boutique Colette, an event that is part of the Paris Fashion Week. The showcasing is taking place today, and has marked appearances from notable fashion industry icons who have popped into see what Apple has unleashed.

The showcasing includes visits from Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and from Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld, both of whom were said to receive personal presentations from both Marc Newson and Jony Ive.

The move to showcase Apple Watch during the Paris Fashion Week isn't surprising, given Apple's other recent similar efforts, and the decision to do so via Colette only reinforces that Apple is hailing its wearable as a fashion piece as much as a gadget.

Apple plans to release a version of the Apple Watch that is targeted at the fashion-savvy, sporting 18-karat gold rather than the cheaper regular construction. If you're not familiar with Apple's latest wearable, check out our related portal, then hit up the SlashGear Apple Hub.
