Android takes one last pre-event swipe at Apple Watch

In the hours before the Apple Watch event today, Google released a video which suggests to users that they "Wear what you want." They refer, of course, to the Android Wear collection of smartwatches, being made by multiple different manufacturers and created in several different styles. Square or Circular, they show, Android Wear is made to fit many different sorts of fashions and looks. How this will compete with Apple's tried-and-true "one device to rule them all" sort of approach, we'll just have to wait and see.

This spot is just 17-seconds long and ends with a circular watch face – almost as if to say "look, we definitely have what Apple doesn't." This spot also uses the current Android tagline "be together. not the same."

"Round or square: wear what you want with #AndroidWear." So says the Android social networking blast.

Below you'll see a timeline of Android Wear watches we've either reviewed or had hands-on with over the past several weeks. They're out in full force now before the launch of Apple Watch, but analysts say they won't be in command of the smartwatch market for long.
