Do you want to have the future of mobile in your hands ASAP? If you ask Sony, that's not in the super expensive foldable phones that Samsung and Huawei have yet to launch. For the Japanese OEM, smartphones are going wide. Wide screen, that is. To make its point, it has as made its ultimate wide screen design available not only on the high-end Xperia 1 but also on the affordable Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus. Now those two mid-range phones are ready for pre-orders for those in the US who want this ultra wide, ultra tall oddity.

If you go by specs alone, the Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus probably won't even make an impression. The two are powered by Qualcomm's mid-range platforms, the Snapdragon 630 and 636, respectively, with 3 or 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The dual cameras, 13 MP + 5 MP on the Xperia 10 and 12 MP + 8 MP on the Xperia 10 Plus, are pretty basic. The batteries are even less impressive, lower than both premium and mid-tier options this year.

The Xperia 10's and 10 Plus' claim to fame will, of course, be their screens. 6.0 and 6.5 inches, both Full HD+ only, the two boast of a 21:9 aspect ratio you won't find anywhere else. Whether that form factor makes a practical difference in everyday use, we'll find out soon.

The Xperia 10 is selling for $349.99 on Amazon and the Xperia 10 Plus goes for $429.99 from the same. The phones are also available on B&H Photo and Best Buy. The two are sold unlocked and are compatible with the big four US carriers. The phones will officially launch on March 18.
