Xiaomi Mi Note 2 details leak, 5.7-inch dual curve Super AMOLED screen tipped

Over the last few months some alleged details have been leaking out about the coming Xiaomi Mi Note 2 smartphone. The last time we talked about the device was when a version with dual curved edges was tipped back in August. Today a new leak has surfaced that claims to be a PowerPoint presentation that reveals specifications for the Note 2 phablet. The device is will get official on October 25.

Slides from the presentation show a smartphone that has a big 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with Force Touch carrying a 1440 x 2560 resolution. The chipset under the hood is a Snapdragon 821 offering a quad-core CPU and Adreno 530 GPU. There are two versions of the smartphone according to the leak with one packing in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The other version has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The rear camera is tipped as a dual camera setup with a 23MP Sony IMX318 sensor and a 12MP IMX378 sensor. The front camera is an 8MP unit for video chatting and selfies. Power is from a 4100 mAh battery with Quick Charge capability. Other features include an iris scanner for unlocking the phone and NFC with support for Mi Pay. The 4GB version with 64GB of storage is set to sell for $415. The 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage version is $445.

If this phone turns out to perform well, it has the chance to grab some of the space vacated by the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone that has been pulled from the market. Samsung has a tough road ahead to get the market share it has lost back and the door is open for this new device to woo buyers looking for a big screen smartphone.
