Vine celebrates first year with #VineBirthday campaign, favorite videos

It seems only yesterday Vine took off in a Twitter-fueled spat of popularity, rising through the ranks to become the stomping grounds for all those who want more than GIFs but less than full-blown videos. Alas, a year has passed, and today is the looping-video service's birthday. To celebrate, users are encouraged to share their favorite Vines with the #VineBirthday hashtag, as well as checking out the company's all-time favorites.

Vine has posted up a collection of its favorite Vines thus far, among them being Gummy Money, a rather amusing clip of horse- and giraffe-mask wearing individuals brushing their teeth, Face Forward #batdad video, and, of course, President Obama's message for the #SFbatkid.

If you check out the Vines on your browser, you can do so in the newly announced TV Mode, which presents the Vines in fullscreen mode (full height, half width, that is), along with a right-side bar containing the user and video information. You can also checkout others' favorite Vines under the #VineBirthday hashtag.

In other recent Vine news, the service opened the door for vanity URL signups on December 20, joining other recent changes and improvements it had made, such as video editing and stability boosts. Do you have a favorite Vine? Feel free to share it in the comments below.
