Verizon puts 5 phone numbers on a single handset

Verizon revealed a program called My Numbers today. This program allows the user to add up to four numbers to a single device, allowing up to five in total. If the user chooses to add additional lines to their device, they'll get unlimited domestic calling and texting and will have to pay a fee per extra line. As noted by Keena Grigsby, director of product marketing for Verizon, My Numbers is a great solution for "customers with side hustles."

Grigsby also suggested that entrepreneurs might want to take part in the program, as well as "those who just want the convenience and flexibility of having multiple phone numbers without the hassle of carrying around a separate phone." It's kinda like having multiple emails, but for people who actively use their phone for talking and texting.

I can't imagine this addition of phone lines to a single phone will sit well with the suspicious. Imagine the shock of finding that your significant other has a secret phone you didn't know about – except here it doesn't even have to be a whole physical device. Here it can just be another number in the same phone.

Of course having extra numbers in one phone shows up on a user's bill, and it's not as if there's a way to hide said numbers from whoever's looking at the phone. There's even a required app – the My Numbers app. This app comes from Google Play for Android and the iOS App Store for iPhone.

Users will be able to add up to four lines to their already-active smartphone with a single phone line. Each additional line will cost $15 a month, and includes unlimited domestic calls and texts.
