Uber may have found its next CEO

Uber has found itself at the center of a lot of negative press lately, but today we're hearing something about the company that may actually be positive. According to new reports, Uber may have found its next CEO. It's been searching for a new leader ever since Travis Kalanick resigned back at the end of June.

According to Reuters, current Expedia CEO Dara Khosrowshahi may be the one to take the chief executive seat over at Uber. According to sources close to the matter, Uber's board voted on Sunday to name Khosrowshahi as the company's new CEO. Though no formal announcement has been made yet, an internal Expedia memo obtained by Reuters suggests that Khosrowshahi is planning to take the offer.

That would be a fairly big loss for Expedia, but a big win for Uber. Khosrowshahi has been praised in his role as the CEO of Expedia, but at Uber, he'll have a list of daunting tasks to tackle right from the start. After all, Uber has certainly been at the center of a lot of controversy recently, and with Kalanick out as CEO, it'll be up to Khosrowshahi to clean up the mess.

Whether its improving the company's image after a string of harassment accusations or dealing with a federal probe from US regulators, Khrosrowshahi certainly has his work cut out for him. Also on his mind will be the lawsuit brought against Uber by Google parent company Alphabet, which alleges that Uber stole trade secrets from Waymo in pursuit of its self-driving goals. That lawsuit alone could have bad implications for Uber's aspirations of offering a self-driving fleet of cars.

We'll see if Khosrowshahi is up for the challenge soon enough. If he does plan to accept Uber's offer, then we should be getting official confirmation sometime soon, so stay tuned for that.
