This Pokemon GO Christmas event starts Monday!
Today we're starting the run-down of holiday events in Pokemon GO that'll take place in the month of December, 2019. The first big change and update starts on Monday, December 16, 2019! This action begins with Pokemon eggs, and Niantic suggests that "you can expect different Pokémon to be hatching from Eggs! Which Pokémon will they be? Incubate some Eggs and start walking to find out!"
This event continues to roll out Generation 5 Pokemon – those are Pokemon from the Unova Region, originally released in Pokemon Black and Pokemon White. In September of 2019, we saw the first 45 Pokemon from Gen 5 appear, then we've gotten a few more each month after that. This month we get Cubchoo, Beartic, Cryogonal, and making its 5-star Pokemon Gym Raid Boss debut, Virizion!
Virizion will appear in 5-star raids from Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. PST to Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8). And this is just the beginning!
Starting on December 20th – that's a Friday – you'll star to see Lugia and Ho-Oh in 5-star raids! That'll last until Monday, December 23, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8). That'll run right up to the event series that starts on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at 12:00 a.m., that'll last until Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. in your local time zone.
This event series has a set of bonuses that last two days each. The chart here should make each day's bonuses simple:
• December 24: 2× Catch Candy, 2× Transfer Candy
• December 25: 2× Catch Candy, 2× Transfer Candy
• December 26: 2× Catch Stardust
• December 27: 2× Catch Stardust
• December 28: 2× Catch XP*
• December 29: 2× Catch XP
• December 30: 1/2 Hatch Distance in incubators
• December 31: 1/2 Hatch Distance in incubators
Pokemon Eggs during this period will feature several Pokemon that would not otherwise appear in eggs, including the following:
• Alolan Sandshrew
• Alolan Vulpix
• Pichu wearing beanie
• Stantler wearing bells
Also appearing in the wild during this event will be the following Pokemon that might not otherwise appear, or would appear far less often outside of this event. This is going to be one exciting period of holiday shiny action:
• Shiny Stantler wearing bells
• Shiny Snover
• Cubchoo (debut!)
• Beartic (debut!)
• Cryogonal (debut!)
ALSO on December 28 ONLY, there'll be one special event. This event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in your local time zone – on Saturday, December 28.
On this special event we'll have the following bonuses:
• 2-hour Glacial Lure Module duration
• Special Glacial Lure Eevee evolution
• 2 more Raid Passes during event
• Regice in 5-star raids!
"If you use the Glacial Lure Module trick to evolve Eevee during the event, you'll get a Glaceon with a special charged attack." This attack will not be available outside this event (as far as we've been informed thus far, that is to say) – the attack LAST RESORT!
