This iPhone 8 just went full Android

Now that the Internet has a pretty good idea of what the iPhone 8 is going to look like, pictures like these are coming in quick. What we've got here is a series of images which use the iPhone 8's body – also a concept based on leaks as a base. This series of images makes a user interface that's built "based on an Android user's expectations."

Created and submitted to the vast recesses of this Internet just this morning, mvfsullivan's concept hit Reddit's Android forum like Ryan Howard applying for a corporate job at Dunder Mifflin. One reason for this is its approach on gaming. Two display options are shown, both showing how Apple might approach a racing game.

Next you'll find a bit about the three main elements involved in designing a UI for the iPhone 8 (or whatever it'll be called). This includes the status bar – which does not include a clock here(!), then the main screen, finally the function area.

The next two images show how Apple might handle the Control Center. Two swipes may be best for handling this area, especially now that there's a far greater chance a user will accidentally brush their finger over that bit of the screen. The Control Center here is black with white toggles, this further pushing the borderless display illusion.

Another reason this concept is so good is its simplicity in presentation. It makes the iPhone 8 look like a realistic piece of hardware without actually showing a real piece of hardware. The details on the hardware are subtle – they aren't in-your-face detailed to the point where they need to be questioned. They just are – and they are all they need to be.

The subtlety comes largely from the originator of the models – they're based largely – and I mean LARGELY on the work of Max Rudberg. Rudberg's work in turn is based on the work of Allen Pike, who started work back in July after our good pal Steve T-S found his way into the firmware for the HomePod which revealed details on the iPhone 8.

For those of you that feel that the design above didn't go far enough with Android user's expectations, I've created the image above. This image straight up plops a bit of Android Nougat in an iPhone 8 concept rendering. The concept rendering comes from UpLabs and was made by Tautvydas Kaziukonis. This UI and concept rendering aren't perfect – but they get the point across!
