These 2 SnapChat Tips Just Fixed My Phone

I just made to TINY changes to SnapChat and fixed two relatively giant issues with my phone. The app requests a bundle of permissions when it's first downloaded on a smartphone – that can be an issue. But it's not unfixable. As a couple of Reddit-based smartphone users made plain to me over the past 24 hours: SnapChat causes some seemingly-unrelated problems that I might never have guessed.

Issue 1: VOL Fixed

The first issue had to do with Media Volume and with the way SnapChat handles the volume rocker. "I am in a Snap group chat so it is frequently open in the background," said N.P.Johnson on Reddit this morning. "I was pushing the volume button to change the music volume because my headphones were to loud, got angry the media volume wouldn't change. Opened the app switcher to try to close the music app, closed SnapChat, then all the sudden my volume button clicks were changing the media volume."

More than one thing can happen if I've had SnapChat open – more than one thing with volume, specifically. It can glom on to "In-call volume", making it impossible to change my universal volume. It can claw its talons in to the Media Volume too, rendering other volumes useless. Leave the SnapChat app immediately and close it from recent apps while you're at it.

Issue 2: BEEP Fixed

There was a LOUD NOISE that blasted my ear every time I ended a call with my standard phone app. It was loud, it was devastating, it was just the worst. Then I saw a post in r/Android from ShredItUp21. Then my life got better.

The loud BEEP that happened at the end of my calls was the monstrous End Call Tone. I'd heard this before, but recently it'd gotten particularly loud. To turn things back to normal, all I needed to do was go to Settings – Apps – SnapChat – Permissions.

In Permissions for SnapChat, I had to turn off the permission for "Telephone". It's not as if SnapChat had any good reason for using that Permission in the first place. Now my life is better, I have my appetite for life back, and my life is moving forward again.
