Following its introduction quite a while ago, Next Games and AMC officially launched the AR Our World mobile game this past summer, enabling smartphone owners to head outside and slaughter zombies on their phone screen. The new content plan is an expansion of this, closely tying the game to the real world television show.
Players who complete these themed missions post-episode airing will be "guaranteed" characters from the show as rewards for completing each mission. The new missions will unlock for players on Monday following the new episode's debut on Sunday nights. This will last throughout the season.
As well, the two companies have teamed to launch a short video series called Life after The Walking Dead, which features actors Josh McDermitt and Michael Cudlitz. This series will be made available on air and online, says Next Games, providing series fans with additional content.
The Walking Dead Season 9, Episode 1 premieres October 7 on AMC.
