The Nintendo 3DS is finally available in purple

Nintendo recently reported its first ever annual loss, with the company blaming the reduced price of the 3DS, selling it below cost. The move was aimed to get Nintendo back on to sales targets, but also ate into profitability. Never fear, for the company has exactly what the public has been so desperately craving: a purple version of the Nintendo 3DS.

Midnight Purple, as Nintendo is calling it, will be the fifth color for the 3DS, and be available for purchase on May 20th alongside the release of Mario Open Tennis. It joins the current 3DS colors, Cosmo Black, Aqua Blue, Flame Red and Pearl Pink.

The purple version will cost the same price as the current 3DS line, $169.99, and bring the same functionality too. Nintendo are keen to point out how you'll be able to enjoy games such as Super Mario 3D Land, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and the new Super Mario Open Tennis. We know you're desperate to rush off and pre-order a purple 3DS, so we won't keep you any longer. Quick, before they sell out!
