Super Smash Bros Ultimate overview trailer sets stage for a massive brawl

With a release date of December 7, Super Smash Bros Ultimate is right around the corner. Without a doubt, this is the biggest Super Smash Bros game yet, but we knew that was the case when Nintendo revealed that every fighter that's ever appeared in the series will be returning for Ultimate. Nintendo's pre-release marketing has certainly suggested that there's a lot to Ultimate beyond just a packed roster, as there are plenty of game modes and mechanics to learn about as well.

Today, Nintendo launched an overview trailer for Super Smash Bros Ultimate to help with just that. In a happy little twist, this trailer is actually narrated by the voice actor who plays the announcer in Super Smash Bros, so you'll have a familiar voice taking you through almost everything in Ultimate.

The trailer weighs in at a little more than seven minutes in length, so it's definitely pretty beefy as far as game trailers are concerned. In addition to helping veteran players keep everything straight, this would also serve as a pretty good jumping off point for someone who's new to the series, as the announcer kicks things off by explaining the basic concepts of Super Smash Bros.

Seven minutes obviously isn't enough time to cover each aspect of the game in depth, but it's enough to get players acquainted with the game ahead of launch. All in all, it's a good watch if you've missed some of Nintendo's Ultimate-focused Directs and need to caught up before the game releases next month.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is among the Switch's biggest releases of the year, and is quite possibly the biggest release of 2018 for the console. Nintendo is pulling out all the stops for this one, even launching a limited edition console to go along with the game. Will you be picking up Super Smash Bros Ultimate when it releases next month?
