'Strangers Things' Gets An 8-Bit Video Game Makeover
Stranger Things was deliberately made to tap that 80s nostalgia, and now Cinefix is here to push it all the way over the edge. As with other movies and TV shows, Cinefix has taken Netflix's latest hit and transformed it into an 8-bit video with all the stylings of a classic, blocky game. The rendition is as great as we've come to expect from Cinefix, but be cautious: if you haven't watched the actual series yet, this video will spoil just about everything for you.
This is part of Cinefix's 8 Bit Cinema, a series of short videos the team posts on YouTube to give fans a different look at their favorite shows. We've seen the team recreate 8-bit versions of other masterpieces (is it okay at this point to call Stranger Things a masterpiece?), and we'll no doubt be seeing more from them in the future.
This time around, we see the Stranger Things world and all (well, most of) its most iconic elements, including the near-ouija board wall with the christmas lights scattered all around the house, the boys stumbling upon Eleven, government stooges chasing kids on bicycles, and, of course, the monsters and their sinister world.
Love these kind of 8-bit videos but not necessarily the thematic element that ties them all together? There's a different YouTube series that may intrigue you then called 8-Bit Philosophy. As the name suggests, the videos tackle the subject of philosophy, but with an 8-bit video-gamey twist. Find out more about it here.
