SteamOS coming to your local GameStop

Steam will be opening up shop within shop in your local game store soon, bringing Steam products to GameStop, GAME UK, and EB Games Canada. This new section in each of the stores will include sales of the Steam Controller, Steam Link, and a number of Steam Machines. Also present will be “a variety” of Steam-related prepaid cards. This team-up will be exclusive for all Steam Hardware products in the USA, UK, and Canada through the holidays – after that, all stores are fair game.

Earlier this year these same retailers partnered with Valve to bring Steam Hardware pre-orders, allowing gamers to receive their gear 30 days prior to the larger international launch. While pre-orders are still available, that “early” bit of the offer sold out in under a month. Future pre-orders executed before November 10th will be given free copies of Rocket League and Portal 2.

“GameStop, GAME UK, and EB Games are leading retail destinations for core gamers and early adopters,” said Valve founder and CEO Gabe Newell.

“Creating a ‘store within a store’ across North America and the UK is a significant win for getting the first generation of Steam Hardware products into gamers’ hands.”

Take a peek at the original Steam Machine starting lineup to see where we MIGHT be on November 10th.

Release for the Steam Controller, Steam Link, and Steam Machines is targeted for November 10th, 2015.

The video you’ll see below showcases the “Steam Controller” and effectively communicates what the SteamOS universe is all about.
