Sony SmartWatch 3 headed to Verizon this month

The Sony SmartWatch 3 is just about ready to roll for the public, bouncing off Verizon in the United States later this month. This Android Wear-utilizing device will come to with a 1.63-inch 320 x 320 pixel display, connectivity to your Android device so long as it's running KitKat, and full IP68 weatherproofing. That means you can bring it ALMOST anywhere the Xperia Z3v can go.

Inside this smartwatch you'll have a digital compass, gyroscope, and – unique to this smartwatch for Sony so far – a GPS chip. You'll of course have access to Google Now and the rest of the Android Wear apps right out of the box.

If you take a peek at our first Sony SmartWatch 3 hands-on look from earlier this year, you'll find that the watch is described as "comfortable if chunky." It certainly looks chunky – and we expect the Verizon version will be almost identical to the international version.

This device works with removable and replaceable bands from Sony, and will come with black and white bands from the start. Previous suggestions from Sony make us believe the device will be priced in at around $300 USD.
