Sony QX30 Lens Camera hands-on

One of two new Lens Cameras shown this week by Sony is the DSC-QX30, complete with a cool 30x optical zoom. This device works with 60x "Clear Image" zoom as well, sacrificing no pixels as you zoom in digitally. The device is very similar in aesthetics to its predecessors from last year.

With the QX30 you're not going to be aiming for space-saving. Not unless you're trading out your full-sized camera for a lens. Instead you've got a lens device that's just as hefty as its larger cousins.

This device is made to attach to your smartphone or tablet – or to be used on its own without viewfinder, if you do so choose. You'll be able to shoot 20.4-megapixel photos with a back-illuminated CMOS sensor and use both Optical SteadyShot and lock-on AF.

This device also has Full HD (1080p) video recording capabilities with 60p right out of the box. You'll find this machine on the market this Fall alongside its close compatriot, the QX1.
