Sony PS3 - The unstoppable console?

We all know how easy it is to kill an Xbox 360. Just let it get a little warm and it's done, or just stick it in a cabinet with a PS3. However, we don't seem to hear many reports of PS3 consoles dying. The guys over at PS3Vault decided to put one through some extreme environmental tests. The result was quite shocking.

Their first test was to run the PS3 for 4 straight days in a van while dropping the temperature from 40 degrees down to 0. The console became a bit sluggish at 0 degrees, but it kept right on playing. It's not that surprising to hear how well it did in this test. After all, how many times have you heard of a piece of electronics dying because it was cold?

Their next test blew me out of the water. They decided to stick it in a sauna for 24 hours at temperatures topping out at 120 degrees. Not only do you have the heat working against you, you've also got to deal with the humidity. The only issue they encountered was a slight burning smell at one point, but once again, it never skipped a beat.

I shudder at the thought of my 360 being put through these tests. While I have full confidence that it would pass the cold test, it wouldn't last 5 minutes in that sauna. If there's one good thing about the PS3, you don't have to worry about it crapping out on you.
