Sony Arc to be official name for PS3 motion-controller?

Sony's motion controller has apparently been christened Arc, according to an anonymous source speaking to gaming site VG247.  The system – which uses the PSEye webcam to track a wireless wand-controller, on top of which is an illuminated, touchable ball – is expected to arrive sometime in 2010.

As well as optically recognizing the controller, the Arc system also uses two motion sensors: a three-axes gyroscope and and a three-axes accelerometer.  Sony have declined to comment "on rumor or speculation"; back in late 2009 it was rumored that the motion controller would be called Gem, but it later emerged that the title had only been a temporary internal codename.
