Sony 4K X-Reality Pro branding tipped for mobile devices

Earlier this month we talked a bit about a new smartphone that was tipped to be on the way from Sony. That device is claimed to be called the Xperia Z5 Plus and the big claim to fame for that smartphone is the use of a big 4K resolution screen. If true, the Sony smartphone would be among the first to bring a 4K screen to the mobile market.

This week some branding has turned up that hints at what Sony may be calling its display software used in the 4K products. Leaks claim Sony has branding called X-Reality and 4K X-Reality in mind. It's worth noting that Sony is using 4K X-Reality Pro tech in 4K TVs already and that tech is used to upscale content to 4K on the TVs.

Sony would need to be able to upscale content to 4K in the smartphone realm too since 4K content is rare today. The S70+ is tipped to get 4K, 4K X-Reality, Triluminos, and Precision Color Rendering Technology.

The lesser S60 and S70 smartphones are tipped to get X-Reality, Triluminos, and Precision Color Rendering Technology. It's still unclear when the new Xperia Z5 Plus will launch.
