"Shocking" Pokemon Announcement Teased For Later This Week

E3 2018 is on the horizon, and as you'd expect, the rumor mill has been working overtime. One game that's been getting a lot of attention in the lead up to E3 is the upcoming mainline Pokemon title for Nintendo Switch. We know very little about the game at this point in time, but there have been plenty of rumors that claim we're closing in on a reveal nonetheless.

It turns out there might be something to those rumors, if a new report from Pokemon fan site Serebii is to be believed. In a tweet published early this morning, Serebii says that Japanese variety show Oha Suta will air a segment on Pokemon this Thursday, May 31. Oha Suta promises that segment will contain "shocking" Pokemon news, stating that it's "a moment a new history is born."

That certainly makes it sound like Oha Suta is gearing up to deliver the first real details on Pokemon for Nintendo Switch. In the time since Serebii first shared that tweet, Oha Suta's website has been updated to remove those statements you see above, and it now only says that we'll get a segment "full of Pokemon information."

Pokemon for Switch is perhaps the biggest question mark heading into Nintendo's E3 presentation. We know that Nintendo is going to show off the new Super Smash Bros game for Switch during the show, but beyond that, we don't really have any idea of what it will reveal. Assuming the rumors we've been hearing lately (and today) are correct, we may not even have to wait until E3 to see Pokemon Switch in action.

Obviously, take what you hear regarding Pokemon for Switch with a grain of salt. When the game was announced last year, Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara said that it might be a year or more before the game is ready for release, so there's no telling when we'll get the reveal Pokemon fans are craving. We'll keep an ear to the ground for more, though, so stay tuned.
