Shiny Pokemon GO update: Gible and limited-time easier catches

Today you're gonna want to head into Pokemon GO with your expectations lit for shiny Gible. Not that you'll ever actually find one, since the Pokemon isn't particularly common, right? As it is with the majority of Shiny Pokemon releases in Pokemon GO, the release of Shiny Gible in Pokemon GO means that this Pokemon – shiny or no – is far more common an encounter than normal.

The important thing to remember when it comes to any Shiny Pokemon release is that this is not your one and only time and place to get a Shiny Gible. Once the Pokemon is in the game, it's in the game. This isn't like the time that they released special Birthday Hat Pikachu, or the times in which they've released Pokemon with special one-time-only fast moves.

During this initial time slot in which Gible is available as a Shiny Gible in Pokemon Eggs, it'll be more common than at any point in the near future. This Pokemon will be available in new Pokemon eggs (the eggs you find during this event, not before), and you'll probably want to head out and incubate as many eggs as you can in as short amount a time as possible.

It's likely that Shiny Gible in Pokemon eggs will last until the 1st of the year – but it'll be best to knock this one out of the part as soon as possible anyway. You'll forget what's going on during Christmas break – OR you'll get twice as much walking done while you eat cookies, right?

There's also a Research Breakthrough bit of action going on right now, with a set of legendary Pokemon appearing in regular and Shiny form. You can earn an encounter with Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Kyogre, or Groudon, and all have a chance to be Shiny Pokemon when your opportunity to catch appears. This will last until 3:00 PM CST, Wednesday, January 1, 2020. Shiny legendaries graphic above via LeekDuck – holla at LeekDuck!

You can also find the Burmy Plant Family and the Wormadam Plant Family in Shiny form in the game now. They were both released in December 5, 2019, during a very special Evolution Event. All Pokemon previously released as Shiny Pokemon in the game Pokemon GO remain potentially available as wild captures once their initial special event release is passed.
