Samsung health event planned for May 28

Samsung has fired off an invitation for a health-related event in San Francisco later this month, the reasons for which are unknown. The Korean company has teased "a new conversation around health," but what health-talk is set to take place is up for speculation.

Health is a topic proliferating the tech industry, arriving in various forms as a slurry of wearable devices, apps, and a mixture of the two. Samsung is no stranger to the category itself, having released its own various software and hardware in recent times.

Samsung's S Health app is one example, making it possible for its users to connect their handset to health devices and track various health metrics. There's also the recently launched Gear Fit health-centric wearable targeted towards a healthy lifestyle market.

UPDATE: A formal invite has been sent – as seen below.

What Samsung has planned for its announcement on May 28 is hard to say: it could be software or hardware, or a mixture of both. Regardless, the move further points towards the maker's desire to fully entrench itself in the health-related tech market, something the upcoming event will no doubt expand.
