Samsung Gear S2 Classic hands-on: detailed in Rose Gold and Platinum

The smartwatch Samsung Gear S2 Classic, as it's now called, has been revealed in two new editions. Samsung has revealed that the Gear S2 Classic will now come in 18K Rose Gold in one edition, and Platinum in another. These devices will function exactly the same as the standard editions of the Samsung Gear S2 Classic, while their exteriors will be encased in slightly finer metals. And they look just fine indeed.

Samsung suggests that they are now working with partners to provide "more convenience and expanded user capabilities" for their Gear S2 watch collection. This newest edition will have NFC, enabling the use of Samsung Pay from your wrist.

Samsung Pay will be enabled on the Gear S2 (the models already out) "early this year starting in the U.S.", so says Samsung.

This week Samsung is also expanding their collection of watch straps and watch faces, partnering with a number of designers to make their set entirely unique. The new Gear S2 Classic will come in a Rose Gold case with Ivory Genuine Leather Band as well as in Platinum casing with a Black Genuine Leather Band starting this February.

Samsung is showing off straps from designer Colombo this week for premium straps for the Gear S2. Also appearing on straps are licensed artworks from Keith Haring, Jean-Michael Basquiat, Jeremyville, and Burton Morris.
