Samsung Galaxy S8 pre-release date photos show Easter's secret weapon
What you're about to see is shocking, to say the least – a Galaxy S8 from Samsung in a color that's perfect for the Easter Bunny. This is the Violet Samsung Galaxy S8 we've heard rumors of – or at least it certainly appears to be said phone. What we've got to go on is very little in the way of final proof, but a set of photos that look rather legitimate.
Several different names are being thrown around for the color of this device. Violet, Purple, Orchid (though this may be mistaken for Orchid Gray), and Lilac have all been called – and/or mistranslated. The hands-on video you're about to see calls it Violet – but also refrains from turning the device on. We'll go ahead and call it Easter Bunny Purple and assume it was made for big fans of the egg-themed holiday.
The video above is most likely capturing a dummy device for the Galaxy S8. This is the sort of unit that may be made for case-makers using specifications sent out by or stolen from Samsung. It could also be a store unit, made for potential users to see and feel the shape of the smartphone.
If Samsung does indeed release a purple Galaxy S8, it will not be the first time the company has ever released a purple smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S4 was released in a purple hue, as was the Samsung Galaxy Ace and the Galaxy S3. With the Samsung Galaxy S4, this interesting limited-edition of a device color was released to Sprint as an exclusive.

Stick around as we have a peek at the real deal Samsung Galaxy S8 and a likely Galaxy S8 Plus at Samsung's big Unpacked event. This Samsung Unpacked will take place on March 29th, 2017. After that, the release date for the Galaxy S8 collection will likely be in mid-to-late April, somewhere around the 21st, if rumors prove accurate.
