Samsung Flip Phone Leaked: Android, Fingerprint, NFC, Touch Payment
The long-awaited return of the flip phone may well be upon us – or it is if Samsung has anything to say about it. With the Android-based W2018, Samsung's plan seems to be mixing the elder king of mobile phones with the best parts of the new generation. Android lives inside this device, so we've got all the apps we could ever want, and a bevy of special features make this device one to watch.
The most recent predecessor to this device is the W2017. That device worked with a 4.2-inch display inside with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. That device rolled with Android 6.0.1 right out the box, and it had 4GB of RAM and a cool 64GB of internal storage. The back-facing camera was 12-megapixels large and a front-facing camera (inside) rolled in at 5-megapixels.
Can you imagine such a device – with more internal storage than the base version of the iPhone, a 1080p display (sharper than the iPhone since it uses a smaller panel), and a 1.6GHz quad-core processor inside. Now, if this next device is all that's been teased and/or leaked, and it came to the United States, there's little doubt it'd have some real potential for a big fat customer base.
This next device has been rumored to come with the following specifications. Note that these specs are not finalized, but come from leaks gathered over the past few weeks.
Display: 4.2-inch 1080p x2 (one inside, one outside)
Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 821
RAM: 4GB
Internal Storage: 64GB
MicroSD card storage expansion: up to 256GB
Battery: 2300mAh w/ wireless charging
OS: Android
Additional features include S Health integration, Samsung Pay, S Voice, and NFC. There's a fingerprint scanner at the back, and it comes in several rather standard-looking colors. And it has the ability to charge wirelessly. Users can also work with multiple carriers as this smartphone has 2x SIM slots in its SIM card tray (unless they utilize that extra slot for a microSD card, of course).
