PS4 exclusive Days Gone has been delayed again

If you've been looking forward to incoming PS4 exclusive Days Gone, it looks like you've got a little longer to wait. Today, Sony made the decision to push back the game's release by a couple of months, moving it deeper into 2019. However, while this may be bad news for consumers, the fact that it's no longer launching in February could be a good thing in the long run.Days Gone was originally scheduled to launch on February 22, 2019. The problem there is that February is an absolutely packed month for game releases, and Days Gone would be going toe-to-toe with BioWare's latest, Anthem, by sticking with that release date. When you're trying to get a new franchise off the ground, you definitely don't want to be going up against that kind of anticipated competition.

So, in a post to the PlayStation Blog today, Sony announced that Days Gone's new release date is now April 26, 2019. It seems that the decision to delay is based solely on February's crowded release schedule, but Sony says that the team at Bend Studio will use the extra time to give Days Gone some additional polish.

This isn't the first time Days Gone has been delayed. Originally scheduled to launch at some point in 2018, Sony first delayed it to 2019 and then announced its February 22 release date shortly before E3 2018 kicked off. The hope, of course, is that this is the last time Days Gone is delayed, but anything can happen when it comes to game development.

So, we've got a little bit longer to wait before we find out if Days Gone's brand of zombie survival has legs. Days Gone has spent a long time in production, so hopefully the extra time afforded by these delays is worth it in the end. Are you excited for Days Gone?
