Pokemon GO Community Day Jan 2018: Special Surf Pikachu
Niantic revealed Pokemon GO Community Day this week as a monthly event that'll take place at parks around the world. "Pokémon GO Community Day is an opportunity for Trainers around the world to meet up at their local parks to make new friends and experience what it means to be a part of this special community." Niantic announced that these events will feature a "special Pokemon" that'll only be available during that time, on that special day. The first special Community Day Pokemon is Pikachu with a unique move: SURF!
January 2018
The first Community Day event was announced to take place on January 20th, 2018. This day's event session will take place at a different time dependent on each trainer's region of the world. In the United States, we'll have Community Day on January 20th from 11 AM Pacific Standard Time until 2PM.
Bonuses and the Featured Pokemon
Niantic said this first event will include Double XP for the duration of the day as well as Lures that last 3 hours each. The cost of the lures as well as every other item in the Pokemon GO in-game store will be... exactly the same as they always are. No discounts here!
The Featured Pokemon of this event is Pikachu with exclusive move Surf. This move won't likely be relegated to Pikachu alone, but this will likely be your only chance to find a Pikachu with said move. Normally a Pikachu will only have electric moves – or the occasional Present.
