The Peel Smart Remote app comes standard on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, and can also be downloaded onto your Android device from the Google Play Store. The app works by transforming your Android device into a remote, allowing you to control your entertainment system via your handset or tablet. Unlike a normal remote, however, Peel gives you interactive features, including a channel guide.
The announcement appeared over on Google+, with a user posting an email he had received from Peel after inquiring about UK support. The company’s response read: “A big thank you for the patience you had to practice to wait for our response. We have successfully launched our app in the below mentioned countries in Europe and Asia!”
The Asia version of the Peel app supports South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and Malaysia. The Europe version of the app supports 17 regions and countries, including France, Spain, Germany, Italy, the UK, Sweden, Ireland, and the Netherlands. Both apps state “additional countries and regions support is upcoming!”
Both apps require Android 3.0 or higher, and are free to download. An iOS app is also available from the App Store, and requires iOS 4.0 or higher. Users have access to a content guide, which allows browsing via categories, such as sports, as well as other content, such as Netflix, that is integrated into a single browsing experience.
