We’re still waiting for official word from Motorola and T-Mobile in the US as to when the new CLIQ Android smartphone will land, but that hasn’t stopped the manufacturer’s UK arm from getting a little more specific. The Motorola DEXT – which is how the handset will be branded outside the US – has been confirmed to arrive on Orange UK in early September, with preordering expected to begin on September 22nd.
There’s still no word on pricing for the smartphone, but knowing how the UK cellphone industry works we’d be very surprised if Orange weren’t offering the DEXT free on a monthly contract of around £35 ($59) or above. That will probably include data and some degree of call and messaging allowance, all important stuff when you consider how much social networking you’ll be doing courtesy of MOTOBLUR.
Buyers will get a 3.1-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard with D-pad, 3.5mm headphones jack, 5-megapixel autofocus camera and 3G. There’s also Bluetooth, access to the Android Market and all the usual Google apps you’d expect from an Android device.
