OnePlus pre-orders open up again [Updated]

For a plucky Android smartphone startup, OnePlus has done what many companies exponentially larger would love to achieve: build up enough buzz that, long after the first handsets began shipping, people are still chomping at the bit to buy one themselves. Latest in the long invite system saga is an hour's open sales, which kicks off now and runs for just sixty minutes – or, frankly, for as long as OnePlus' servers can hold.

There are a few limits, of course. Only two of each device can be ordered at a time, presumably to avoid people sweeping the shelves and then making a killing on eBay later.

When orders are confirmed, the shipping address can be changed – as long as it's within the same country – but the customer name cannot. Pre-orders can be cancelled, as long as they haven't been shipped yet, but individual items in the order can't be modified.

Payment is via PayPal, and the properly prepared will have already got their cart ready, since OnePlus warned of the sale last week.

Worth noting, mind, is that even if you get your order in within the hour, you still might not get a handset. OnePlus has a limited number of OnePlus One units to go around – how many exactly is unclear.

Update: Good news and bad: OnePlus' servers are clearly struggling, but the company has decided to extend the pre-order period. It'll now run until 11AM PST / 2PM EST.
