Nixon Mission Android Wear smartwatch goes up for sale

The Nixon Mission Android Wear smartwatch we reported on last month is now available to buy from several online retailers. The company describes its product as the first ever 'action sports smartwatch,' and it comes with stylings to match. You can grab the watch in three color options, one black, the other "concrete" gray and the last a sporty mixture of black, gray, and bright construction cone orange.

Nixon says the Mission smartwatch is designed to be tough, hence its action sportswear designation. You can take the Mission wearable into wet environments, you can drop it and smack it and it'll probably survive just fine. The product boasts a shock-resistant polycarbonate case, Corning Gorilla Glass, 10 ATM water-resistance, and surgical-grade stainless steel.

Under the hood lies a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 plus a GPS sensor and microphone for voice control. In addition to the Android Wear platform and the apps that come with that, the Mission includes Nixon's Trace App for tracking their snow and surf activities. There's also the Nixon Mission app for seeing real-time snow and surf conditions.

Other features include Bluetooth 4.1, an e-compass, altimeter, barometer, gyro, humidity sensor, accelerometer, and thermometer. The display, meanwhile, has a 400 x 400 resolution and 1.39-inch size with support for both wet touch and multi-touch. The watch costs $400 even and is available now through Nixon and Amazon.
