Nintendo Switch is okay with you playing in the bathroom

Nintendo's German arm has produced a second Switch commercial, barely a week after showing us the first. While the first Switch commercial centered around The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this new one features Mario Kart 8 Deluxe heavily. More specifically, it shows off all the different locations you'll be able to play Mario Kart 8, and one of them features a toilet.

Yes, that's right: the commercial shows a guy enjoying a round of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe from his throne. This, of course, is one of the main advantages the Switch has against its more powerful Xbox and PlayStation competitors. With this commercial, Nintendo is essentially saying "yeah, our competitors may be more powerful, but you can play the Switch while you're taking care of business, and there's value in that."

Once we go beyond the bathroom, we see a group of friends playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe together, both at home and in a college lecture hall (hopefully before class begins). Both of these clips show off the multiplayer functionality of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the Switch. When those friends are playing at home, we get to see Mario Kart 8 Delxue's four-player split screen mode, while the lecture hall setting previews its 8-player multiplayer mode.

For the uninitiated, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is, at its core, a repackaging of Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U. All of the DLC that was released for Mario Kart 8 is present here, along with a handful of new Splatoon racers and tracks. Unfortunately, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe isn't going to be a launch title – we'll have to wait until summer to revisit this gem of a game.

We're inching ever closer to the Switch's release date. We have just over a month to go until March 3, and excitement surrounding the console seems to be pretty high, with pre-orders for Switch consoles and accessories selling out fast. After the blunder that was the Wii U, it's an exciting time to be a Nintendo fan, so stay tuned for more.
