Netflix's 'Daredevil' Shows First Clips At New York Comic Con
Saturday night at New York Comic Con was the place to be for Daredevil fans, as at a panel for the original Netflix series, Marvel gave the world the first look at four clips from next year's pilot episode. Given screen time were four of the show's main characters/actors, including blind lawyer by day Matt Murdock/crime-fighter by night Daredevil (Charlie Cox), love interest Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), and villain Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio).
Offering viewers their first look at Cox in Daredevil costume, the first clip takes place in Karen Page's apartment, with her being attacked by man who is there to steal something important. Just before it's too late, Daredevil arrives to save her, and as he and the attacker fight, eventually going out the window to continue on the street, a flashback is shown of young Matt being told by his father to work and study hard to avoid a troubled life like his.
The second clip is brief, but gives a small taste of the relationship between Daredevil and Claire Temple, a nurse who is drawn to help the mysterious, costumed man for unknown reasons. Temple treats a costumed Murdock's wounds, while the two flirt and make jokes back and forth in order to avoid explaining their true motives. Also short, but dark in tone, was the third scene, showing Fisk meeting Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer), an art gallery owner, and telling her that a certain painting makes him "feel alone." Later in the panel, D'Onofrio offers a little insight to the crowd by explaining that his character is "a child and he's a monster."
The last scene shown is light-hearted and fun, and serves to introduce Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), a longtime friend and colleague of Murdock. Aside from the clips, Marvel also released a new piece of concept art for the Netflix series, featuring black and white artwork of Daredevil atop a Hell's Kitchen roof, with the only use of color being red blood covering his fist. An exact premiere date hasn't been set yet, however all 13 episodes of the first season will be available at once on Netflix upon release.
