The Motorola TRIUMPH will be the first Android smartphone from Motorola to hit Virgin Mobile. Officially unveiled just two weeks ago, the TRIUMPH is set to ship starting July 19 and will be released without a contract in tow. Now pre-orders for the handset have kicked off with Best Buy listing the device at $299.

The TRIUMPH doesn't have cutting edge specs, but for the price, it's a pretty good mid-range Android smartphone. It will have a 4.1-inch 800 x 400 resolution WVGA touchscreen display along with a VGA front-facing camera and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. It supports 720p HD playback and HDMI-out and runs on a 1GHz processor.

It will ship with Android 2.2 Froyo, rather than Gingerbread, but it will be an almost vanilla install without the notorious MotoBlur UI. And, it will be the first to have the Virgin Mobile Live 2.0 app that's essentially the carrier's own branded music and media streaming service.
