Moto Z Play heads to India for testing

India is one of the booming smartphone markets around the world and as such, a number of new devices have been showing up there first. Granted most of these new devices debuting first in India are on the mid or low end range. One of those mid-tier devices is the Moto Z Play also known by its codename Vertex. An import listing has surfaced that shows the smartphone has been imported to India for testing.

With the Moto Z Force Play being imported into India it likely means the official launch is nearby. Details on the import come from import tracking site Zauba where listings for the Motorola Vertex with a 5.5-inch screen hide. A previous leak gave up some details on hardware that is expected with a Snapdragon 652 processor paired with 2GB of RAM.

The screen is a 5.5-inch unit with QHD resolution according to the leak. Charging will be done via a USB-C port and it's not clear if there will be a 3.5mm headphone port. The front camera is a 5MP unit with a 16MP on the back. Power is said to be a 3500 mAh internal battery and the OS will be Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

The Vertex smartphone isn't the only device that had been tipped in earlier rumors that Motorola hasn't launched just yet. Several Moto Mods are unaccounted for that had leaked previously. One of those mods is the Pro Camera turning the smartphone in to a 10x optical zoom point and shoot. The Adventure Mod is missing as well promising water resistance for the smartphone. Only time will tell if these products will launch, but we think they will. With Indian testing underway we may only be weeks from the Moto Z Play's debut.
