Microsoft productivity services will be on new Samsung and Dell Android devices

It's about to get easier to work from anywhere. Cloud computing helps, but it's only a small part of the big picture when it comes to effectively working from anywhere. To truly be untethered from the office chair, the same productivity programs like Word and Excel are needed on tablets and smartphones. We're in luck because soon all of the Microsoft productivity services like Microsoft Office and OneDrive will be pre-installed on Samsung's Android devices, making it that much easier to take your work with you wherever you go.

Samsung and Microsoft Corp. have furthered their partnership, bringing Microsoft mobile productivity services to consumers. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will feature Skype, Microsoft OneNote, and OneDrive pre-installed. New Galaxy users will also get Microsoft's offering of 100GB of storage on its OneDrive cloud free for two years. For Samsung tablets, Microsoft is expanding their offerings to include all the productivity features we can't live without like MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Ideally, this will make it incredibly easy to seamlessly continue working on a project despite switching devices. It feels as though different devices each have their own productivity wall. For example, my desktop out-powers my laptop, but lacks portability. While my smartphone is ever-present, it lacks the same type of storage and functionality as an actual computer. Microsoft aims to break down those barriers to success by offering their products on more platforms. The cloud storage is a nice touch, making it easier take your work anywhere.

It's not just Samsung getting this special treatment. In the U.S., Dell has also partnered with Microsoft, so its Android devices will also have the similar offerings as Samsung. Microsoft's latest endeavor pairing its mobile productivity services with Android manufacturers includes 11 companies around the world.
