Logitech Performance Mouse MX and Anywhere Mouse MX pack "Darkfield" lasers

Should someone stage an intervention at Logitech?  The company has unveiled yet more new mice, and while we realize that a healthy stream of peripherals is the bread & butter of their business, the recent flood seems to be getting a tad extreme.  Still, today's new wireless pointers – the Logitech Performance Mouse MX and the Anywhere Mouse MX – do at least bring something nifty to the table: "Darkfield Laser Tracking".Video demo after the cut

Now we'll admit that sounds like something you might use to fight the zombie hoards, but in actual fact it's Logitech's clever tracking system that allows the two laser mice to work on just about any surface.  That includes clear glass (as long as it's at least 4mm thick) and the sort of high-gloss surfaces that would usually cause your mouse to scurry away.

Otherwise both the Performance Mouse MX and the Anywhere Mouse MX both use Logitech's Unifying USB receiver, with the former having various shortcut buttons and side-to-side scrolling that varies with force, while the latter – intended for mobile use – has back/forward thumb buttons for easier web browsing.  Both will land in the US and Europe later on in August, priced at $99.99 for the Performance and $79.99 for the Anywhere.
