LG Watch Urbane video reminds you how classy it is

LG might not be too keen to battle for the spotlight at MWC 2015, but that doesn't mean it doesn't want you to drool over its pre-announced products. Next week, it will be putting on display a few of its new entries, and some of them might really be worth taking a closer look. Or a closer wear even. The company has just released a video for its LG Watch Urbane and it indeed would have you believe that it is one of if not the classiest Android Wear smartwatch to date.

Previously, it was the Moto 360 who probably owned that title when it started the fad of round-faced smartwatches. LG soon caught up with the G Watch R, but that wearable was in a class of its own. If comparisons have to made, and they do, LG's take on the circular smartwatch was closer to that of a sportswatch than a fashionable timepiece. Motorola even took it up a notch by eventually providing metal straps for the Moto 360.

It seems, however, that LG might be taking the crown this time. Compared to the G Watch R, the Watch Urbane shouts, or rather whispers, finesse and style. The overall size of the watchface is significantly smaller. The leather straps, which can be replaced by any standard strap, complements the metallic body of the smartwatch.

That said, they say beauty is only skin deep, and that applies here. For all its beauty, the LG Watch Urbane is pretty much the same G Watch R inside, which is quite decent as far as this generation of Android Wear smartwatches go. Truly, the Watch Urbane's distinction is in its looks, and that is probably the one area that will matter most in this fledgling market.

LG will be flaunting the Watch Urbane at MWC 2015 next week, where we will hopefully hear more details about it, including launch dates and prices.
