LG F60 brings 4G LTE connectivity on a budget

You know that LTE is truly becoming omnipresent when mid to low range devices start joining the 4G party. The latest to do so is LG's new F60, a smartphone that the company promises to give you a fast connection to the Internet but at a price that won't burn a hole in your wallet, at least as far as the device itself is concerned.

You might be familiar with LG's premium G series and its entry-level L series, and maybe even its rather odd Vu devices. The F line, sadly, doesn't get much attention, probably because it sits in a rather blurry middle section of LG's catalog. That said, the LG F60 might put it on the spotlight because of the promise of 4G LTE connectivity at a "reasonable price", or so LG says.

That price will come with a cost, at least in terms of hardware. Don't go looking for high end specs, of course, but the F60's guts might just be enough for everyday use. That includes a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor and 1 GB of RAM, with configurations of 4 GB or 8 GB of data storage available. The screen is a somewhat handy 4.5 inches but the display falls short of qHD, ending up at 800x480 WVGA. Don't expect to take breathtaking photos with the F60 either, as it only has a 5 megapixel rear shooter teamed up with a 1.3 megapixel camera for video calls and low-quality selfies.

LG does try to make up for it with its usual assortment of software features trickling down from its premium line up. This includes the hand-clenching Gesture Shot, selfie-friendly Front Camera Light for shining some light on your face, one-tap Touch and Shoot, and the ever-present Knock Code unlocking pattern.

LG has yet to announce retail price for the LG F60, but it has indicated that the smartphone will first roll out to Europe starting this week, with Asia and the Americas following shortly. The phone will be available in black or white color options depending on the market.
