Lenovo taps Ashton Kutcher for smartphone lineup

Ashton Kutcher, who recently starred in the movie JOBS, has been tapped by Lenovo to aid in the design of a smartphone lineup. The information comes from Lenovo's Chief Marketing Officer David Roman, with these special edition handsets slated to launch sometime later on this year.

Of course, this isn't Kutcher's first stint working with Lenovo. Back in October 2013, Lenovo introduced its Yoga Android tablet, and with it came Kutcher with involvement in both developing and pushing the product. This latest partnership takes the actor's involvement with the company farther, and continues with the trend of offering more than his status to the products.

By the sounds of its, Kutcher isn't designing any products, but is instead involved with the user experience aspects of the products with which he is involved. Lenovo's Roman spoke with the folks at Re/code recently, with the information on Kutcher's involvement coming directly from him.

Though Kutcher is best known for his acting stints, he does have a history studying biochemical engineering, which was his pursuit before leaving college to model. Said Roman during his interview on the matter, "I know on one level, it sounds corny, but it is real. He not only sees himself as an engineer, but he is an engineer. If he sees a problem, he wants to solve it."
